UC San Diego Crew Camps
Camp Details
Camp Director and Coaching Staff: Pattie Pinkerton, former Australian National team coach, High Performance Coach, and Coach of the Year in both Australia and the West Coast Conference, will lead the Clinic and work with individual athletes. Pattie holds a Graduate Diploma in Coaching from the Australian Coaching Council and has presented coaching and athlete clinics in the USA, England and Australia. Pattie has been coaching at UC San Diego for the past 10 years and during that time led the Tritons to back-to-back National Runner’s-Up at the NCAA Championships. In her spare time Pattie is still an avid competitor and most recently won several medals at the Masters Games at the 2009 Regatta in Canada. She will be joined by current and former UC San Diego staff coaches.
Camp Location: The camp will be run out of the Coggeshall Rowing Center on the shores of Mission Bay located at 1220 El Carmel Point. San Diego, CA 92109.
Accommodation: Participants must make their own hotel reservations. Please click here to follow the Google Map link for some of the closest hotels/motels in the area. The map also includes some great local restaurants and bars for “after hours” entertainment.
A Sample Schedule
Saturday:
9:00am: Registration
9:15am: Introduction and tour of boathouse premises
9:30am: Land Seminar (may include lesson, video review, land workout, etc.)
10:30am: Water Training (may include introduction for beginners or drills and pieces for advanced rowers)
12:30pm: Lunch (snacks are provided on an ongoing basis with full lunch and breakfast provided when necessary. If you have special dietary needs, please inform Camp Director at least 2 weeks prior.)
1:30pm: Land Seminar
3:00pm: Water Training
5:30pm: Land and Return Equipment
Sunday:
8:00am: Light Breakfast/Land Seminar
9:30am: Water Training
11:30am: Lunch
12:30pm: Water Training
1:45pm: Video Review
3:00pm: Water Training
5:00pm: Land and Return Equipment
Monday:
8:00am: Light Breakfast/Land Seminar
9:30am: Water Training
11:30am: Light Snack
11:45am: Open Forum for Discussion or another Water Training
1:00pm: End of Camp
