The University of California at San Diego is pleased to announce our annual Summer Rowing Camp 2011. This camp is designed for boys and girls ages 12-18 and will focus on high performance rowing technique and racing skills, as well as educate novice rowers with an exciting introduction to the sport. The entire UCSD staff will focus on each athlete’s specific needs
and goals. For some athletes, this will mean a better understanding of training techniques, technical proficiency and race-day conditioning. For athletes new to the sport, this summer camp will serve as an important first step in judging the athlete's future potential in the sport of rowing by coaches who have spent a lifetime watching rowing and competing themselves.
Come join the UCSD Rowing team in our overnight summer camp, Thursday July 21st – Sunday July 24th. We are accepting athletes of all skill levels from novice to advanced. All areas of training will be covered from technique to fueling for performance to a comprehensive ‘how-to’ on being recruited to the university of your choice. It is highly encouraged that you sign up in advance to secure a spot as space is limited!
Rowing will take place on beautiful Mission Bay, out of UC San Diego’s gorgeous Coggeshall Boathouse located next to the San Diego Rowing Club and Mission Bay Yacht Club at 1220 El Carmel Place, San Diego, California 92109. Overnight campers will have the opportunity to stay in dorm rooms on the UCSD campus and will be driven to and from training sessions by our licensed drivers/counseling staff.
Due to our close proximity to the U.S. Olympic Training Center located in Chula Vista, California we offer a special tour of the facilities and the opportunity to meet past Olympic medalists and future Olympic hopefuls.
The camp will wrap up with a regatta on Mission Bay Sunday morning which family and friends are invited to watch and cheer on the athletes!
