UC San Diego Crew Camps
University of California San Diego La Jolla, California
Welcome to another exciting summer with UC San Diego Rowing Camps. Over the past 3 summers we have enjoyed working with young girls and boys at our boathouse on beautiful Mission Bay. This year, we will be offering two one-week day camps, teaching and improving on rowing skills.
The UC San Diego Junior rowing camp is designed for 7th through 12th grade boys and girls who would like to learn to row, or who would like to improve their rowing skills. The camp takes place at the UC Boathouse in Mission Beach. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for young people to discover the joys of rowing in a scenic environment, while making friends, and learning teamwork.
Beginning rowers will learn the skills needed to continue on with the sport, while more experienced rowers will gain technical expertise from our national level coaches, headed by Head Coach Pattie Pinkerton, former US Rowing Junior Development coach, and Australian National team coach.
Coach Pinkerton is a specialist in teaching rowing skills, as a Senior Coach with the Western Australian Institute of Sport, she ran the West Australian Talent Identification rowing program, which fast tracked athletes onto National teams, as well as running coaching clinics in Australia, England and in the US.
Rowing is an excellent total body sport, which incorporates absolute team work. It’s an ideal sport for young people, and our camp is an ideal introduction for the complete beginner.
Our nationally ranked coaches will also aid the more experienced rower, getting a jump on the competitive season!
