UC San Diego Crew Camps
University of California San Diego

The UC San Diego Men’s and Women’s Crew teams invite you to participate in our 2012 summer day camps for boys and girls. The camps will take place out of our beautiful boathouse located right on Mission Bay. These instructional camps are open to all skill levels from experienced rowers to those who have never ever seen a boat!  In addition to instruction there will also be optional discussions on college recruiting and how to best market yourself to college crew coaches. Rowing is sport that will offer you the opportunity to be on the water, work with others in a focused environment, push yourself physical and mentally, and potentially open up opportunities for athletic scholarships and admissions assistance.

Within each camp there will be 3 levels of instruction
:
1)    Learn To Row- This is for new rowers who have never been in a boat before. Instruction includes boat handling, rowing terminology, technical instruction on the rowing machine, technical instruction in an eight-man shell, and video analysis.  Our goal is to get all of our new rowers proficient enough that we can complete a mini-race by the end of the two week camp!
2)    Small Boat Camp- To participate in this camp you must have prior rowing experience or have completed our ‘Learn to Row’ camp. This camp will offer instruction in small boat rowing including singles, doubles, quads, pairs, and fours. Instruction will include video analysis and review.
3)    Racing Camp- To participate in this camp you must have prior rowing experience or have completed our ‘Learn to Row’ and ‘Small Boat Camp’. Instruction includes starts, sprints, power moves, race cadence work, video review, and race analysis. Racing camp will only be offered in our 2nd and 3rd camp sessions.
